New Shoes For Golfers and $125,000 for Cancer Research!

08/08/2012

The 13th annual WICC Ontario Golf Tournament held at the prestigious Angus Glen Golf Club on July 9th was an incredible day. The sold out event drew 260 golfers and ten additional dinner guests from the insurance industry.  This year the players teed off (many in their new shoes which were included with their registration fee) at noon and enjoyed on course challenges including longest drive and closest to the pin competitions for men and women as well as the Hole in One challenge.

After the ‘links’ competition, guests were treated to cocktails, a gourmet dinner and the Silent Auction tables.  This year there were numerous “priceless” articles including sports, theatre and concert tickets, golf foursomes, jewellery, etc.  There was also a 50/50 draw which the winner, who asked to remain anonymous, generously donated back to WICC.

Special plaques were awarded by Kim Hrycko, 2012 Golf Committee chair, to the generous sponsors who have continued their support of the WICC Golf Tournament during each of the last five years.  Kim also extended her appreciation to the dedicated committee members, volunteers, golfers and generous donors who helped make the day a huge success.

Lastly, but truly the best “shot” of the day, was the WICC cheque presentation by Jean Faulkner, WICC co-chair, to the Canadian Cancer Society in the amount of $125,000.

Please mark your calendars for the 14th WICC Ontario Golf Tournament to be held on July 8, 2013.  Come out and Golf Fore The Cure!
