About WICC Ontario

WICC Ontario has contributed more than $10 million dollars to Canadian Cancer Society since it’s inception in 1997

Since 1996, WICC Ontario has contributed over $10 million to Canadian Cancer Society’s ground-breaking cancer research. In more than 100 hospitals, cancer centres and research institutes across Canada, WICC’s support has helped to fund world-class research focused on breast, prostate and general cancers. Through our Gala events, Relay For Life, Golf tournaments, WICC Next Gen and other events, your support is making a real difference in the lives of Canadians affected by cancer.

Thanks to investments in prevention, early detection and treatment, the overall cancer survival rate has increased from about 25% in the 1940s to at least 60% today. Survival for breast and prostate cancers are higher at 87% and 95%, respectively. CCS’ vision to create a world where no Canadian fears cancer is only achievable if we work collectively with people united by the same goals. With the help of hundreds of thousands of people that CCS brings together, we are a force-for-life in the face of cancer. We know that cancer changes people and that nearly 1 in 2 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. But a cancer diagnosis doesn’t have to define a person. Our goal is to improve the cancer experience by helping people live longer and enhancing their quality of life. We believe that life is bigger than cancer.
