Before the sun rose on Wednesday, November 8, the Fairmont Royal York was buzzing with hundreds of insurance colleagues who gathered for WICC Ontario’s 26th Annual Learning Breakfast for Cancer.
This year’s event served up a healthy serving of inspiration and education. Cancer thriver Bobbi Jo Beitz spoke about her cancer journey, giving the audience hope for recovery and a fulfilling life following a stage 4 diagnosis; and Dr. Jennifer Jones discussed the important and impactful work being done by her team to restore and maintain physical and mental well-being in people living with and beyond cancer.
Through table purchases, corporate sponsorship, and raffle sales, the event raised over $20,000 for cancer research, all of which will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, with no administration fees applied.
WICC also announced the winner of our 2023 Volunteer of the Year Award. WICC would not exist without people volunteering their time to make events and fundraising happen. Over the years, some of our volunteers have gone way above and beyond and a few years ago we began a tradition to recognize these people and we were pleased to announce that this year’s winner was Indira Ramdial. As a member of this event’s committee, and as Co-Chair of the Golf Committee, Indira has been tirelessly devoting her time to raising funds for cancer research since 2019. Congratulations Indira!
Thank you to all attendees and sponsors. And shoutout to our unstoppable breakfast committee. You did it again!
