National Volunteer Week, April 25th – 29th

This week is National Volunteer Week and it is with deep appreciation that we celebrate you, the extraordinary volunteers of the Women In Insurance Cancer Crusade, for volunteering your time, energy and expertise to support cancer research.

During a second challenging year of the global pandemic, you continued to show up and stand up for Canadians living with cancer. You have played a vital role in helping WICC to navigate the changing landscape while continuing to support us in achieving our goals. Your dedication and tireless determination to help those living with cancer is making a positive impact on countless lives every single day. Our gratitude extends throughout the year, but this week especially, we wish to celebrate your meaningful contributions to our work.

Since the inception of WICC in 1996, and with the help of the entire insurance industry and its supporters, over $18 million has been raised in support of cancer research and education. The involvement of all WICC supporters and volunteers has made it possible for WICC to achieve its Mission and meet and surpass our goal of raising $250,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society in 2021 – our 25th Anniversary year! WICC is honored to have individuals like you, who have helped us reach this milestone through your energy and commitment to the cause. Without your engagement and creativity, we could never have achieved all that we did. Thank you!

Right now, 100% of these dollars are at work helping to fund the best cancer research projects and clinical trials in the country, as sanctioned by the Canadian Cancer Society. Many cancers have encouraging results – detection and prevention are paramount to improving survival rates.

As a working Board, we know the commitment and dedication it takes to support our Mission – and we see all that you’re doing. We see you preparing to host our first in-person events in more than 2 years. We see you elevating WICC’s presence through bountiful communications plans. We see you raising funds through new technology, creative tactics, and new partnerships in 2022. We see you collaborating across the miles to expand our impact throughout the insurance community. It is through these efforts and the thoughtfulness of individuals like you, that together we will find a cure for cancer!

With gratitude,

The WICC Ontario Board of Directors
