Another year, another successful gala!
The 23rd annual WICC Ontario Gala took place May 8th at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto with the theme Rebel For A Cause.
What is Rebel For A Cause? It’s about living in the moment, making the most out of life, and realizing that life is precious and meant to be enjoyed. Rebel For A Cause is more than just a theme; it’s a mindset – one perfectly matched with the mission of WICC Ontario, which presented a cheque for $125,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society during this year’s Gala.
More than 630 guests attended the event and enjoyed an amazing cocktail reception and dinner. Guests were able to get a temporary tattoo, pose at a Harley-Davidson photobooth or purchase a leather jacket.
Tommy Youngsteen – the premier North American Bruce Springsteen tribute act – provided the night’s headline entertainment. Featuring members and alumni of Juno award-winning music groups, Tommy Youngsteen’s incredible performance kept the crowd dancing until midnight!
During a special ceremony, WICC’s National Sponsors received recognition for their vital contributions to the organization, and WICC Ontario co-chairs Marilyn Horrick and Ellen Moore presented the following awards to their hugely deserving winners:
- Lew Dunn Memorial Award: Marian Adamson;
- Gold Flame Awards: AppCentrica, Insurance Bureau of Canada;
- Hall of Flame Award: McKellar Structured Settlements Inc.
The event could not have succeeded without the support of our Gala Sponsors. We thank them again for their generous contributions:
- Entertainment Sponsor: Paul Davis Restoration
- Platinum Sponsors: AMR Barristers & Solicitors, Informco, Intact Insurance, Canadian Underwriter and Paradigm Events.
We also extend our deep appreciation to the Gala’s 25 Gold, Rose Silver, Bronze and Raffle sponsors.
Finally, you to all the wonderful volunteers who worked so hard to make this evening a success, including the indefatigable WICC Ontario Gala Committee that spent the better part of a year ensuring Rebel For A Cause would be unforgettable. (In fact, they’re already at work on the 24th annual WICC Ontario Gala, which will take place May 13, 2020.)
