WICC, CARE & Chubb Insurance
Chubb Insurance has been a longtime supporter of the WICC. In addition to being chapter donors in our Branch offices, Chubb is one of 16 Platinum National Sponsors. Ellen Moore President of Chubb Insurance Company of Canada and WICC Ontario Co-Chair said “Chubb sees its Platinum National Sponsorship as an extension of its strong local support for WICC and a natural next step relaying the mission at a country-wide level. Chubb employees appreciate first-hand the benefits of being a part of this national initiative. They are proud of Chubb’s connection to WICC and its commitment to fundraising to support cancer research.”
Our national presence is supported by strong regional participation; Chubb Calgary organized several events during the year with brokers and clients with the latest being hosted at our Stampede party on July 12th. Chubb Calgary was able to raise just over $2,500 for the charity. In Toronto, local support includes participation in events like the WICC Relay for Life. This year’s Toronto event took place at Downsview Park on June 15th. Chubb took a multifaceted approach to raising funds for the Relay, this included: donations to the Chubb Team, Chubb matching gifts and WICC candle sales. In total, Chubb was able to raise over $16,000 contributing to the over $400,000 raised in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. The Montreal WICC Gala is an industry “must attend” in the spring.
Within the Chubb community, a committee helps to engage employees and their families with local charitable causes, this committee is called the Charitable Actions and Resources for Employees (CARE). The CARE Committee represents Chubb’s strong commitment to community outreach and philanthropic initiatives. The group seeks to empower employees by providing opportunities to volunteer and fundraise for registered charities.
The CARE Committee works to support annual events including: United Way Week, Hope in Bloom (Parkinson’s Canada), WICC Relay for Life and the Sick Kids Great Adventure Camp Walk among others. CARE also works with a number of charitable organizations including: WICC, Children’s Miracle Hospital and the Firefighters Associations of Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary. Chubb was able to donate 430 toys to the Firefighters Association for their annual toy drives. In 2017, the CARE Committee was responsible for helping to facilitate 410 hours of charitable work. In total CARE raised over $280,000 for local charities and not-for-profit organizations. Toronto CARE Committee leaders Julia Perle and Evan Pollock are happy with the progress they’ve seen from the group and hope to help in its continued growth.
Chubb will continue a close partnership with WICC in supporting their events across Canada. We look forward to sharing some of the charitable success stories Chubb and WICC are able to accomplish.
