Ellen Moore, co-chair for WICC Ontario welcomed the over 400 guests noting “An important part of WICC’s mission and our primary objective for the annual WICC Breakfast is to provide information that will help our guests achieve a better understanding of cancer and its effect on our lives.”
While extending personal thanks to Donna Cassidy, Breakfast Chair and the volunteer contributions of the WICC Board of Directors, co-Chair Marilyn Horrick gave special recognition to retiring Executive Director Alexis Heatherington. Horrick described the Board as having “…been blessed with an abundance of strengths and talent with Alexis as our Board Executive Director. After 5 phenomenal and transformative years for WICC Ontario, we thank Alexis for her time, dedication, genuine care and grace under pressure.” Incoming ED Rebecca O’Brien (formerly of Marsh Ireland and Canada) was in attendance and introduced to all.
Following a memorable and poignant presentation by Dr. Metcalfe, whose research conducted at Women’s College Hospital focuses on the prevention and treatment of breast cancer in high risk women, most specifically those with a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation, WICC Ontario Breakfast Chair Donna Cassidy thanked event sponsors:
