The BC chapter of WICC (WICC BC) was founded in 2002. From its early beginnings, the organization has had a broad reach; engaging not only the insurance community throughout the province, but also ancillary companies that provide related services, to support their mission. Although the organization was initially launched to support breast cancer research, it subsequently expanded its mandate to include all forms of cancer. The mission of WICC and its chapters is to unite and engage the Canadian Insurance Community to fund cancer research, support, and education to improve the lives of those affected by cancer.
Since 2002, WICC BC has donated more than $2.4 million to the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). The 2020 pledge to CCS is to raise an additional $1,000,000 towards Camp Goodtimes and other support programs by the year 2025. In recognition of WICC BC’s milestone commitment to the cancer cause, the new Centre for Cancer Prevention and Support in Vancouver, BC, opened in Spring 2021, and features the WICC BC Garden for guests to enjoy.
WICC BC holds many events throughout the year including golf tournaments, casino nights, pub nights, and more in both Kelowna and Vancouver in order to achieve their fundraising goals and support CCS
