Ottawa Golf FORE Hope event a big success!

On Monday, August 8th, the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade, Ottawa Chapter hosted its 10th annual Drive FORE Hope golf tournament at the prestigious Camelot Golf & Country Club in Cumberland. It was Ottawa’s first in person event since the onset of COVID and even a little rain couldn’t put a damper on the mood. Sponsors and golfers alike were very happy to be back supporting a great cause.

“Having been through cancer myself, these events have a special meaning. Thank you to Camelot, our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, speakers, and companies who donated silent auction items for helping to make the event a success. We are so happy to be back to in-person events!” said Jackie Bailey, WICC Ottawa Events Co-Chair, and Customer Success Manager, Canada at FRISS.

After a fantastic round on the course, guests returned to a wonderful meal and silent auction at the clubhouse. During dinner, Zaid Taha, PhD student at the University of Ottawa and cancer researcher at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, took the opportunity to present some of his research and give a first-hand look at how WICC’s fundraising efforts can help directly support cutting-edge cancer research.

All funds went directly to support cancer research through the Canadian Cancer Society, and Amy Desjardins, Director of Leadership Giving with the Canadian Cancer Society was present to thank the attendees.

Without the generous support of our sponsors, this event would not have been possible. The WICC Drive FORE Hope Committee is proud of how generous all the supporters were this year. A big thank you again to all of our event sponsors, hole sponsors, auction item donors, golfers, and speakers alike.

The WICC Drive FORE Hope Committee looks forward to another successful event in 2023
