Earlier this year, WICC and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario entered into a Community Partnership extending WICC’s brand and reach for cancer research fundraising further into the brokerage community; an outcome that would not have been possible without the IBAO. That partnership turned into real dollars this month as IBAO recognized WICC as its charity of choice for this year’s IBAO convention. With over 700 brokers attending the IBAO awards of excellence gala dinner, WICC representatives Michael Butler (below left) and Marilyn Horrick (right) took to the stage and shared WICC’s history, mission, and events that keep our industry united in the crusade to eliminate cancer in our lifetime.
In a statement released after the event, Jeff Gatcke, IBAO President had this to say, “We continue to learn about the key role WICC plays in mobilizing Canada’s insurance industry in the fight against cancer,” said IBAO President Jeff Gatcke. “Given our partnership with WICC Ontario—a new collaboration we announced earlier this year—we wanted to further align our largest event and platform with this important initiative. We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.”
“WICC is honoured not only to have partnered with IBAO through its Community Partnership but also to have been selected as IBAO’s charity of choice for this year’s Convention,” said Marilyn Horrick, Co-Chair, WICC Ontario. “We’re moved by the generosity of Ontario’s brokers and we’re tremendously grateful for their support.”
Through individual broker contributions and IBAO’s generous donation, $23,000 was raised for research initiatives funded by the Canadian Cancer Society.
